Making hand-made custom guitars is an addiction according to Dan MacPherson, it certainly isn't something you do for wealth. 'What customers may not realise is just how much work goes into making a guitar, from carving the body from a solid block of wood, to hand-shaping the neck and headstock, fixing and inlaying the fretboard, plus all the hours of finishing and adding the electronics and hardware. I hand-make literally everything I can - it's alot of work', says Dan.

DM Guitars has been around a while and is well known in the industry. Dan even supplies wood and paint finishes to other custom shops and major named manufacturers.

Currently Dan hand-crafts and sprays all the UK custom shop Burns bodies plus spraying the necks, as well as making all the  JJ custom models - when I talked to him he  was just finishing a JJ guitar for Simon Townsend for the upcoming Who tour.
