*** Another one I could happily hang onto this guitar myself....I think it looks stunning! Perhaps that is why I have been rather slow in getting around to completing the overhaul/re-string I have now completed in the workshop!

*** Artec WSH Bubinga Hardwood Covered Soundhole Pickup now fitted - new photos added showing the pickup fitted, are photos 1 & 2....rest of the photos are of the guitar prior to the overhaul!

*** Not all digits of the Serial Number are fully clear to read, but starting 80******** very clearly, coupled with the known production period of these guitars from 1977 to 1981, positively dates the guitar to 1980.*** I assume that the guitar has been played in the past with a soundhole pickup, as it came with a jack socket in the side of the lower bout, and a lead inside with mini-jack, but no remaining pickup.....I have fitted an (unused) Artec WSH soundhole pickup I have had in stock for a while, as per the revised photos 1 & 2...a Bubinga hardwood-faced unit, supplied with & fitted with it's own dedicated jack socket.

*** For a 38 year old guitar, it is in remarkably clean condition....really no significant marks on it! On arrival it played well as it was, with good action.*** Nevertheless, the overhaul I had in mind was going to include dressing the fingerboard, stoning & re-profiling the frets, but on further inspection I was not happy with the rather low height of the original frets. I have removed them and I am in the process of installing new frets, after a gentle re-leveling of the very nice Rosewood fingerboard, maintaining the 16" radius. I have also dressed, re-profiled & reduced the height of the bridge a little, not to reduce the string action height as there is no need to do so, but rather to improve the break angle of the strings over the saddle, increasing downward pressure & improving sound transmission prior to re-stringing & set-up adjustments.

*** Good 12th. fret action of around 2.5mm./3mm. has been maintained after re-levelling & re-fretting fingerboard, bridge dressing & set-up adjustments. Re-strung with Martin Bronze XL 10-46 strings, tuned down two steps to "D" (capo at 2nd. fret for "E")....if you wish to fit heavier set, would only be suitable for lowered tunings.*** There is no case with the guitar, but I have available a Hiscox Liteflite case, which fits perfectly, and is available at a modest additional price.

*** There are many and various YouTube demo clips of vintage Yamaha 12-strings, but so far the embedded on my Vintage & Traditional Guitars website, entitled "MY BLOODY THUMB. (original ) on a Yamaha FG-412SB" by "jamtown63" is the only one I've found for the same model.....you can't see it too well, but you can hear it!

*** Very Extensive Description Details on the Vintage & Traditional Guitars Website.....please ensure that you check the full description carefully.*** UK & EU postage only....please enquire for individual details.
